Ōtaki to north of Levin
Design and consenting of a four-lane highway. This project required extensive modelling of road-traffic noise and mitigation design, short and long term noise monitoring, community engagement, and reporting / evidence for the Envrionment Court.

Audio lures
Bespoke audio-visual lures that are being used by Lincoln University and Landcare Research to test alternative attractors for predator control. These lures have been designed to withstand the tough environmental conditions that are experienced in the New Zealand wilderness.

Te Hurihanga o Rangatahi - Youth Hub
Acoustic input into the concept design of a multi-tentant space which will house and provide support to the youth of Christchurch. Subsequent input into the detailed and construction design phases.

Road surface measurements
We assisted Waka Kotahi in the design and implementation of an instrumented trailer for performing measurements of road surface noise using the Close Proximity (CPX) method. We provide ongoing maintenance and operational support including an annual survey of key projects on the New Zealand State Highway network.

Low noise surface research
Research into how different pavement designs and construction techniques can reduce road-traffic noise levels. The work has included bespoke measurement solutions, ongoing road noise surveys, and extensive data analysis. Findings from this work have been integrated by Waka Kotahi into mandatory road design and construction requirements.

Individual vehicle noise
We have been working with Waka Kotahi to investigate and understand the causes of individual loud traffic noise events. This has included the development of a bespoke engine-braking camera, and surveys of speed and noise across New Zealand.

Domestic Transport Costs and Charges (DTCC) study
Ministry of Transport comissioned project to establish estimates of costs attributable to noise from roads, rail, aircraft and coastal shipping.

Web dashboard for noise monitoring
To asssit with community engagement as part of the opening of the Pūhoi to Warkworth motorway, we installed three noise monitors along the project route, and developed a web dashboard which showed the noise levels and corresponding traffic and weather conditions.

Transpower Conductor Noise
Working with Transpower to investigate sources of conductor noise, and refining measurement and analysis techniques. We built and host a web-based dashboard that allows Transpower staff to inspect, filter, and label noise events.
